IN YUCCA VALLEY, MEASURE “Y” FUNDS ENHANCE PUBLIC SAFETY

Merl Abel, Mayor, and Curtis Yakimow, Town Manager, both of Yucca Valley, were the guests on the Up-Close Show last Friday (June 4). Of the many topics discussed, both Abel and Yakimow stressed how important public safety is to the Town of Yucca Valley and how Measure Y funds helped make public safety advancements possible. Cassidy Taylor has the recap…

Measure Y passed in 2016 with overwhelming support from Yucca Valley residents, allowing a half-cent sales tax in the town that funds town essential services such as public safety and road repair. Both Mayor Abel and Town Manager Yakimow praised the measure on the Up-Close Show.

“One of the things that I want to stress is the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is able to provide us services that we could not afford as a as a community of our size.” – Merl Able, Mayor of Yucca Valley

“We want to ensure that public safety, infrastructure and quality of life in this community are upheld. And so, we were able to provide an additional full-time detective, as well as a safety specialist, and then maintain our existing levels of service as well.” Curtis Yakimow, Town Manager

If you are interested in reviewing and making recommendations to the Town Council regarding the use of funds generated by both Measures Y and Z, you can apply to fill one of the vacant Revenue Measure Oversight Commission seats.
