IDEAS FOR ALTERNATIVE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION CEREMONIES SOUGHT

Morongo Unified School District Superintendent Tom Baumgarten announced during the school board’s special meeting on April 7 that no traditional graduation ceremonies could be held for the 2019-2020 graduating class due to the COVID-19 outbreak. In an effort to provide a meaningful graduation event for students, the school district is inviting graduating seniors to submit their own ideas for alternative graduation ceremonies. In lieu of a traditional graduation ceremony, graduating seniors from Yucca Valley, Twentynine Palms, and Black Rock high schools may submit their ideas for an alternative graduation events for students and their families. Students may submit their ideas to the principals of their schools. Principals will work with Associated Student Body advisors to select the top two submissions, which will then be voted on by graduating seniors. All submissions must follow current social distancing rules.
