Hwy 62 construction starts 7/10, expect delays east of 29 Palms

The California Department of Transportation has announced the schedule for a major construction project on Highway 62 between Twentynine Palms and Vidal Junction.

Beginning July 10, Caltrans will undertake an asphalt rehabilitation project that will impact Twentynine Palms Highway, also known as State Route 62, most weekdays.

The major, two-lane thoroughfare will be reduced to one lane of traffic for periods between 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday, with delays expected to be 15 minutes.

The California Highway Patrol will be on hand to assist with traffic control and safety.

Ths $4.9 million dollar project will begin on July 10, and is scheduled for completion in December.
