HUNTINGTON, LOMBARDO, FILE ANSWERS TO REASONS FOR RECALL

Yucca Valley town council members George Huntington and Robert Lombardo filed their answers to the reasons given to recall them with the town clerk Monday. Huntington wrote in his statement, “Throughout my service, I have taken the fiduciary responsibilities which come with the office seriously and have maintained the highest ethical standards. During my tenure, the town has continued to advance projects and provide programs while maintaining a healthy financial reserve during a period of major economic downturn and dwindling resources. Representative forms of government delegate decision making…. Tough decisions are not always popular.” Robert Lombardo wrote in his answer, “A political disagreement should not rise to the level of recall when no criminal or egregious actions have been committed. I truly believe that my decisions have helped to start much needed projects, keep amenities that make Yucca Valley a great place, and all while taking great care to remain fiscally responsible.” According to the state election code, proponents of the recall may not start collecting signatures until the petition form for the collection of signatures has been approved by the Town clerk. All petition forms must also include the answers from the elected officers. Huntington and Lombardo both ran unopposed in the November election and are the two council members with the longest terms remaining.
