Joshua Tree National Park is a designated International Dark Sky Park, but light pollution continues to pose a problem to visitors attempting to enjoy our dark night skies. Headlamps, car lights, campfires, neighboring towns and cities, and any illumination can contribute to light pollution. To help reduce light pollution, turn off unnecessary lights at night; replace your home’s outdoor lights with night sky friendly light fixtures; and use the red-light setting on your headlamp.
