“How to Grow Desert Gardens” with Charla Shamhart this Sunday (8/24) at Rainbow Stew

Autumn gardens can really thrive here in the Morongo Basin… so says Charla Shamhart, an herbalist and holistic health lecturer and a gardener who’s been successfully growing in the desert year-round for almost 50 years. Shamhart says that fall and winter gardens are easiest to grow successfully in desert conditions.
That means that the best time to start thinking about your garden is right now, and Shamhart is holding a class about planting in the fall months. You’ll learn how to create a quality soil, what soil amendments to use to increase nutrients in the plants you grow and how to control pests naturally.
The class is this Sunday, August 24 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Rainbow Stew, located at 55509 Twentynine Palms Highway in Yucca Valley.
There is a suggested donation, but all are welcome. Bring a pen and notebook to the class.
