HONORING OUR SERVICE MEMBERS ON VETERANS DAY

Today is Veterans’ Day, the day we honor our current and past military service members. In honor of Veterans Day, schools, banks, the post office, the court house and government offices, are closed. Many restaurants offer free meals or discounts for the military with proper ID.

Being an officer in the military takes a lot of hard work and dedication. According to Chief Warrant Officer Bryan Mackall, Officers in the Marine Corp have college degrees and there is a screening process that involves multiple academic tests as well as physical fitness tests. Chief Warrant Officer Bryan Mackall also stated that boot camps for different ranks are different. He said that Officers focus on leadership at the command level and problem solving while enlisted focus on obedience to orders, mission accomplishment, and leadership at the small unit level. The road to becoming a Chief Warrant Officer is hard work, but with dedication and diligence anybody can become one.
