Homicide investigation launched in Twentynine Palms after two people assaulted, one found dead

This is the second homicide investigation in the Morongo Basin this week.

The Sheriff’s Department is investigating what is being considered a homicide in Twentynine Palms. 

Last night at around 7:45 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies from the Morongo Basin Station responded to a report that two people had been assaulted in the 3300 block of Bluegrass Trail. Deputies report finding one of the people dead. 

The second person was suffering from injuries and was transported to hospital.  

A representative from the Sheriff’s department said that the crime scene is considered to be still active, and the investigation is ongoing. They did not say whether any suspects have been identified or if any arrests have been made. Z107.7 will provide updates as they become available.

This is the second homicide investigation in the Morongo Basin this week, as the Sheriff’s Department is investigating the murder of 71 year-old James Boutwell who was found dead in his Yucca Valley home on Friday (September 13).
