HOLIDAY CLOSURES START TODAY

Government offices, schools, the post office, banks, the County court system. MBTA bus service, and most businesses will be closed Tuesday, December 25, and Tuesday, January 1, for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Many offices will close early or not open at all on Monday, December 24, and Monday, December 31. Burrtec Waste and Recycling will also be closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day. Trash pickup will be delayed by one day. With information about closures in the town of Yucca Valley, here’s managing editor Tami Roleff…

In Yucca Valley, town will be closed from December 21 and will reopen January 2. Building services will be open for inspections only December 26-27. It will resume regular hours on January 2. The Hi-Desert Nature Museum will be closed December 23 through January 1.

Beginning Sunday, December 23, the Yucca Valley Animal Shelter will be available by appointment only for pet owners to retrieve impounded animals. Call the shelter at 760-365-3111 extension 105 to arrange a meeting time to pick up your pet or to leave a message for a lost or found pet. Shelter staff will return calls each day between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. The Animal Shelter provides kennel runs for anyone who has found a stray pet and wishes to drop off the pet on their own. Beginning Saturday, December 22, Yucca Valley Animal Control Services (field operations) will be responding to priority calls only during the holidays.  Those requiring emergency animal assistance during this time should call San Bernardino County Sheriff’s dispatch at 760-365-2364.

The Yucca Valley Senior Center will be closed December 24-25, and December 31-January 1.

The Twentynine Palms Senior Center will be open limited hours during the holidays. It will be closed Monday and Tuesday, December 24 and 25, and again December 31 and January 1. There will be no senior lunches on these dates. The senior center will be open from 9 to 1 Wednesday, December 26 through Friday, December 28. Lunch will be served. Normal hours and operations resume on January 3. For more information, call 760-361-1410.

The Hi-Desert Nature Museum will be closed from December 23 through January 1. It will re-open January 2.
