All government offices, banks, libraries, schools, post offices, and Copper Mountain College will be closed Monday, May 27, in observance of Memorial Day. In addition, Burrtec will delay its trash pickup by one day. The Morongo Basin Transit Authority will NOT operate service on Monday, May 27, in observance of Memorial Day, and will resume its regularly scheduled service on Tuesday, May 28.
The Joshua Tree Memorial Park will hold its 18th annual Memorial Day observance on Monday, May 27, from 11 to 3. The event will feature an observance ceremony with military speakers and a dove release. Following the ceremony, there will be a free community barbecue, bounce house, and live music from Gutter Candy and the Shadow Mountain Band. The cemetery is located on the south side of Highway 62 just east of La Contenta Road.
