The Broadway musical, “Into the Woods,” will open with a gala performance at Theatre 29 this Friday, sponsored by the Twentynine Palms Rotary Club. Reporter Rebecca Havely has the details…
Opening night gala tickets for “Into the Woods” at Theatre 29 are available through any Twentynine Palms Rotarian or at the Z107.7 studio in Joshua Tree. Tickets for opening night ONLY are $25 each. Arrive Friday night April 28 at 6 p.m. for festive pre-show foods and fundraisers. The curtain will rise at 7 p.m. with sweets served at intermission. “Into the Woods” intermingles the lives of many of your favorite fairytale characters in unexpected ways. A baker and his wife, cursed by a witch, journey into the woods to reverse the curse. In the woods they meet Cinderella and her family, Little Red Ridinghood and the Wolf, the Witch’s daughter Rapunzel, handsome Princes, and Jack and his beloved cow. When Jack’s beanstalk brings them a visit from an angry giant, we see how consequences haunt them all in disastrous ways.
After opening night tickets are $15, $12 for seniors and military, and $8 for students with ID. “Into the Woods” has a more mature theme, so parental guidance is suggested for children under 12. Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 7 and Sundays at 2:30 through May 21. For tickets visit theatre29.org or call the Theatre 29 Box Office at 760-361-4151.
