Discover the history of gold mining in the Dale District, which is located 15 miles southeast of Twentynine Palms. Historians and miners Jim Wharff and Tom Koch will talk about gold mining in California from 1848 to present and will bring old mining equipment and artifacts to show the different methods used by prospectors. In 1898, during its heyday there were as many as 3,000 miners in the Dale District. Join these historians for this fascinating look at the rush for gold on Wednesday, November 13, at 5:30 p.m. at the Hi-Desert Nature Museum. There is a suggested donation of $5.
