HIKER INJURED WHILE CLIMBING ROCKS IN INDIAN COVE

A hiker climbing on rocks in the Indian Cove campground about 11 a.m. Saturday suffered moderate injuries when he fell about 50 feet. According to Twentynine Palms Fire Engineer Lee Martin, the hiker was climbing a rock face without any protective gear when he lost his footing. Martin said the hiker hit several rocks as he fell to the ground. The man, identified only as being in his late 20s or early 30s, was flown by Mercy Air to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs.
