AN ARREST AFTER A HIGH-SPEED PURSUIT IN YUCCA VALLEY

A San Bernardino man was arrested Thursday morning following a short, high-speed pursuit in Yucca Valley. California Highway Patrol officer Jason Kobaly told Z107.7 News that about 10:54 a.m. a CHP officer saw a blue Subaru WRX driving westbound on the highway, just east of La Contenta, at about 100 miles per hour and passing vehicles in the center turn lane. The officer lost sight of the vehicle when it turned southbound on Avalon Avenue, but a tip led CHP and Sheriff’s deputies to the Walmart. Deputies located the suspect, later identified as Christopher Arellano Casas inside the store. Christopher Arellano Casas, who is on post-release community supervision, was arrested by CHP officers for investigation of felony evading and child endangerment, as there were three children between the ages of 7 and 16 years old in the car with him. The children were released to their mother. Arellano Casas was also found to be in possession of metal knuckles. He was booked into the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $100,000.
