The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojans volleyball team travelled to Desert Hot Springs last night to take on the Lady Eagles. The Varsity team won 3-0. Coach Matt Jennings said the team rallied in each set to take the lead and they were able to finish strong. They also put down 24 kills and at the net were able to stop the Eagles with nine blocks. The JV team also won 2-0.
The Twentynine Palms High School Lady Cats volleyball team bested the Rams of Desert Mirage. The Lady Cats were led by senior Tusia Brown with 15 kills and two ace serves, senior Cherokee Turner with seven kills and seven blocks, Sophomore Latasia Benevente with six kills and freshman Tatiyanna Mackall with five kills and one block for the night. Junior Koko Caberra had 27 assists and one ace serve.
Yesterday, the Twentynine Palms Girls Tennis team, defeated Desert Mirage by a score of 18-0.
It’s a football weekend this weekend, but not here in the Morongo Basin. Tonight, the Yucca Valley High School Trojan football team will travel to Indio to play the Silver Knights at Shadow Hills High School. The Joshua Springs Christian School Lightning will travel away to play Lancaster Baptist School. Both games are at 7 p.m. tonight. The Twentynine Palms High School Wildcat football team will travel to Big Bear tomorrow to play the Bears. Kickoff is 1:30 p.m.
The Yucca Valley High School wrestling team will have a car wash tomorrow at the Yucca Valley Chrysler Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donations of $5 per vehicle are requested. Come out and see the Raminator and get your car washed.
The Yucca Valley Lobos, a youth tackle football team, will hold all its games tomorrow at the Twentynine Palms High School football field. The Junior Micros (ages 7 and 8), will play Banning at 8 a.m. The Micros, who are all 8 to 10 years old, will play Banning at 10 a.m. The Junior Pee Wees, ages 10 to 12, will also play Banning, starting at noon. The Pee Wee football team (10 to 13 years) hosts Corona, at 2 p.m, followed by the Midgets’ game at 4 p.m.
