The Yucca Valley High School Track team took on Shadow Hills yesterday and notched two victories at the varsity level. The boys beat the Knights 93-34 and the girls won 92-31. The boys won 12 out of 15 events, with Haemish O’Donnell leading the way with four victories in the 100, 200, 4-by-100 and 4-by-400 relays., Logan Vallo had two wins in the long jump, 4 by 100 Relay and a second place finish in the 100. Jeff Larson and Danny Magennis excelled in distance races with wins in the 800, 1600, and 3200. Finally, Trevor Gorwin had personal records in the shot put and discus, throwing 54′ feet, 4 inches and 148 foot, 11 inches respectively. On the women’s side, Teyana Poole and Lacey Rexroat posted four wins with Lacey winning the 800, 1600, 3200, and anchoring the 4-by-400 Relay. Teyana won the long jump, high jump, triple jump, and the 100. Jazmin Pushkar won two events in the 100 and 300 hurdles, while Sierra Kahrs handled the discus. The girls won 12 out of the 15 events.
The Yucca Valley High School track team will be conducting their final fundraiser at Sonic and AM/PM from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Come fill your cars and your stomachs by letting them pump your gas and serve your food.
The Twentynine Palms High School Wildcat track and field team traveled to Desert Hot Springs for a De Anza league match-up. Led by 400-meter relay opening leg, freshman Adriann Miller, the girls dominated by a score of 82-40. The boys defeated the Golden Eagles 85-42. Noel Figueroa and Zach Kanlong both earned personal records in the 800 meter and 3200 meter respectively.
Coming up in high school sports tomorrow, the Twentynine Palms High School baseball and softball teams will host Shadow Hills High School at home. First pitch for both games is 3:30.
The Yucca Valley High School Trojan baseball team will host Big Bear at home tomorrow. The game starts at 3:30.
