De Anza League Boys Individual Tennis Play-off Finals were held at Indian Wells Tennis Garden last week. Coach Larry Battle said qualifiers for Twentynine Palms High School singles were Jarod Burks and De’Neil Washington. Doubles teams qualifiers were Joshua Davis and partner Marcus Gray, Bradley Linkey and partner John Lanza, and Sam Choi and his partner Vincent Thomas. Jarod Burks was the team’s only singles player who advanced to the semi-finals May 3. Jarod Burks lost his semi-finals match but came back strong and won the number 3 alternate spot for CIF Individuals that will be held on May 23 at the University of Redlands.
Coming up in high school sports tomorrow, the Joshua Springs Christian School baseball and softball teams will travel away to play Mesa Grande. First pitch for both games is at 4:15.
