The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan basketball team got back in the win column with a 60-30 win over Granite Hills High School (Apple Valley) last night in a first-round game at the Hesperia Christian Holiday Classic. Coach Jess Geeson said junior Yvonne Tran led the scoring with 15 points. Junior Ashley Priest added 12 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore Annika Denndekker netted eight points and pulled down seven rebounds. Senior Hannah Hughes dished out six assists.
The Trojan boys’ soccer team played a very physical game versus Xavier Prep Wednesday night. The game ended in a 0-0 tie. Coach Tee Vallo said the boys played from start to finish with intensity and passion. The Trojan boys had 14 shots and held Xavier to eight shots
In high school sports today, the Twentynine Palms High School girls’ and boys’ soccer teams will host Xavier College Prep at home, with the games starting at 5 p.m. The Wildcat boys’ basketball team will host Palm Springs High School at home; tip-off is at 6:30 p.m.
The Yucca Valley High School girls’ soccer team will travel to Apple Valley to play in the Hesperia Tournament, starting at 6 p.m. The Trojan boys’ soccer team hosts Silver Valley High School at home, starting at 5 p.m.
And finally, the Joshua Springs girls’ and boys’ basketball teams will host Lucerne Valley High School at home. The girls’ game starts at 5 p.m.; boys’ start at 6:30.
