The Yucca Valley High School girls’ softball hosted the Golden Eagles of Desert Hot Springs in the first DeAnza league game of the season at Machris park on Monday. YVHS Softball Head Coach Dennis Priest said the result was a 11-1 victory for the Lady Trojans who move to 5-5 on the year and 1-0 in league play. Sophomore Karson Scaccianoce gets the complete game win giving up one hit and two walks. Junior Teresa Nava contributed with two hits and two runs batted in. Sophomore Abby Schlickenmayer contributed with two hits and two RBIs.
The Twentynine Palms High School Boys’ Tennis Team competed in their first De Anza League matches yesterday in Desert Mirage against Desert Mirage High School Rams. Coach Larry Battle said after three rounds of competition, the Wildcats ended up in a 9-9 tie and had to be determined by counting games won by each singles player and each doubles team. The Wildcats won 71 games to 67. Team Standouts were doubles team, Bradley Linkey and partner Jerek Silvas, and doubles team, Joshua Davis and partner Marcus Gray, who won all three sets.
Coming up in high school sports tomorrow, the Twentynine Palms High School Wildcat track and swim teams will play the Desert Mirage High School Rams in Thermal. The track meet starts at 3; the swim meet at 3:15. The Wildcat tennis team will travel to Rancho Mirage tomorrow to play Marywood-Palm Valley. First serve is at 3:15.
The Yucca Valley High School Trojan baseball and softball teams will host the Twentynine Palms Wildcats at home tomorrow. Both games start at 3:30.
