HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS: SCORES AND SCHEDULES

On Monday, February 8, the girls’ varsity Twentynine Palms High School Wildcats basketball team hosted the Yucca Valley High School Trojans. Both teams came in with identical 17 and 7 records overall. Coach Tim Stanford said Yucca Valley started the game off strong taking an early lead, but the ‘Cats fought back to gain the lead at the half 36 to 25. The second half was an evenly fought battle, with both teams scoring a total of 21 points; ultimately the Wildcats came away with the victory 57 to 46. Lindsey Scamman had 19 points, 17 rebounds, three assists, and five blocked shots. Adrianne Miller had a solid game with 11 points and seven rebounds. Destiny Dedmon continued her inspired play with nine points; Courtney Stanford contributed eight points, five rebounds and two assists. Makya Bullion was a terror on defense with eight steals and four assists; and Tatiyanna Mackall added two points, 10 rebounds and a gutsy defensive performance.
 
In high school sports today, the Yucca Valley High School boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will compete against Rancho Mirage High School. The boys will be in Rancho Mirage; the girls will play at home. Both games start at 6 p.m.
 
Also today, the Twentynine Palms High School boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will play Desert Mirage High School. The boys will travel away to Thermal; the girls will play at home. Both games start at 6 p.m.
