HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS: SCORES AND SCHEDULES

Yucca Valley High School boys’ soccer won a match with crosstown rival Twentynine Palms 4-1. Yucca Valley Coach Jorge Rodriquez said senior Andrew Bellucci scored two goals, Junior Nate Bellucci scored one goal and also one assist. Junior Vincenzo Costagliola scored one goal and five steals. Junior Oscar Hernandez also had one assist, and senior Luis Estrada had one assist and five saves. For Twentynine Palms, Coach Nathan Niles said junior Ryan Stowers assisted Rhyen Smith on the lone goal in the first half and the Wildcats hustled hard but came up short.
 
The Twentynine Palms Lady Wildcats soccer team hosted the Yucca Valley Trojans Monday evening, resulting in a 1-0 victory for the Twentynine Palms varsity team. Coach Richard Sanchez said senior forward Alexa Flores scored off an assist from junior Lexie Rivera in the second overtime period to break the 0-0 stalemate that had lasted more than ninety minutes. The starting defensive backline, seniors Erin Babinec, Kathy Lazaro, and Chayanne Ryan, kept the pressure on the Trojan forwards, while senior goalkeeper Maranda Palmer contributed 32 saves to shut out Yucca Valley and secure the team’s first victory against their rival. The team also set a new school record for wins in a season.
 
Twentynine Palms High School girls’ soccer hosts Desert Mirage High School at home tomorrow for their final game of the season. It will be Senior Night at 5 p.m.
