The Yucca Valley High School boys’ wrestling team took third place at the De Anza league finals Saturday in Rancho Mirage. Jake Merritt won first place and lower weight MVP of the tournament. Placing third, and qualifying for CIF competition were Damian Vasquez, Trevor Scott, Andrew Reyes, Julian Henretty, and Onkar Sandhu.
In high school sports today, the Joshua Springs boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will play Desert Christian Academy from Bermuda Dunes. The girls play at 5; the boys at 6:30.
In high school sports tomorrow, the Twentynine Palms High School boys’ and girls’ soccer teams will play Shadow Hills High School. The boys will play at home; the girls will travel away to Indio. Both games start at 5 p.m.
