HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS: SCORES AND SCHEDULES

The Twentynine Palms Wildcats boys’ basketball team traveled to Big Bear High School last night and came off the mountain with a 76-47 win. Coach Jeremy Johnson said D’Shaun Barrett led the ’Cats with 16 points, Andrew Wilson had 14 points, Kyle Hope 11 points, and Adam Bell nine points. The win brings the Wildcats to 16-4.  
 
The Yucca Valley Lady Trojan basketball team scored an important De Anza League win last night, beating Shadow Hills 56-44 in front of a boisterous home crowd. Coach Jess Geeson said sophomores Savannah Beasley and Kloee Scaccionoce led the team with 22 and 15 points, respectively, while senior September Shaw-Fryer came off the bench and sparked a second half rally with six points and six rebounds. The win moves the Yucca Valley girls league record to 5-2 and overall record to 14-7 along with a #15 ranking in the latest CIF Division 4AA poll.
 
Yucca Valley High School boys’ soccer lost 6 to 1 to Shadow Hills. Coach Jorge Rodrigues said the goal was scored by junior Steven Castro and player of the game honors go to senior defender Garrett Brooks for his leadership and effort.
 
The Yucca Valley High School girls’ soccer team played against CIF ranked Shadow Hills High School in De Anza League play. Shadow Hills proved the better team, getting the 4-3 victory. Coach Scott Phillips was very proud of his team’s effort.

The Twentynine Palms High School Lady Wildcats soccer team traveled to take on Big Bear High School Tuesday afternoon, resulting in a 4-1 loss for junior varsity and a 5-2 loss for the varsity team. Coach Richard Sanchez said senior forward Alexa Flores successfully converted a penalty kick and junior midfielder Lexie Rivera scored after an assist by sophomore midfielder Emma Yeager. Senior goalkeeper Maranda Palmer contributed 21 saves.

The junior varsity recorded the only second half goal of their game when sophomore Rose Perrotte put the Wildcats on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal. Freshman goalkeeper Alexis Soster had nine saves to help.
 
In high school sports today, the Joshua Springs boys’ and girls’ basketball team will host Desert Chapel School from Palm Springs at home. Girls start at 5 p.m., with the boys’ game to follow.
 
In high school sports tomorrow, the Yucca Valley High School boys’ and girls’ soccer teams will play Desert Mirage High School. The boys travel away; the girls play at home. Both games start at 5 p.m.
 
Also tomorrow, the Twentynine Palms High School boys’ and girls’ soccer teams play Desert Hot Springs. The boys travel away; the girls are at home. Both games start at 5.
