HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS: SCORES AND SCHEDULES

Yucca Valley varsity boys’ basketball played the Big Bear Bears yesterday and won 85-51. Coach Gilbert Berry said they were led by Jamal Robinson and Tommy Geiger. Five players had eight or more points in the team effort.
  
The Yucca Valley Lady Trojan basketball team traveled up to Big Bear last night and came home with a 52-25 De Anza League win, moving their league record to 4-2 on the season. Coach Jess Geeson said sophomore Savannah Beasley led the scoring with 21 points, including four 3-point baskets. Junior Taylor Spitz came off the bench and netted seven points. The squad hosts Shadow Hills Wednesday at 6 p.m. in a battle for second place.
  
Yucca Valley High School boys’ soccer hosted Big Bear High School, the game finished in a tied score of 1 to 1. Coach Jorge Rodriguez said senior Andrew Bellucci scored the lone goal from an assist from junior Nate Bellucci. Rodriguez said player of the game honors goes to Oscar Hernandez for his effort and leadership.
 
 
The Yucca Valley High School girls’ soccer team played Big Bear High School in De Anza League play and came away with a 1-1 tie. Coach Scott Phillips said Sophomore Liana Jimenez scored the goal for the Lady Trojans with freshman Riley Vallo providing the assist.
 
In high school sports tomorrow, the Yucca Valley High School boys’ and girls’ soccer teams will play Shadow Hills High School. The boys travel away; the girls are at home. Both games start at 5 p.m.
 
Also tomorrow, the Twentynine Palms High School boys’ and girls’ soccer teams will play the Big Bear Bears. The boys are at home; the girls travel away. Both games are at 5 p.m.
