The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan volleyball team played Desert Hot Springs at the Yucca Valley High School gym. The first set kept the crowd in suspense as they were neck and neck close to the end, until the Trojans pulled ahead to win, 25-20. The Trojans kept the lead, winning the next two sets, 25-13 and 25-11. Emily Vigrass led the night with 11 kills, a block, four digs, and five service aces. Jade Adair had six kills, three digs and 23 assists, and in defense Joelle Hazher had 13 digs, two assists, two service aces, and a kill.
The junior varsity had a great match winning in two sets, 25-20 and 25-10. The Trojans pulled ahead early in the second set with 14 straight serves from Riley Vallo, six of those aces. The offense was led by Julia Conrad with 10 attacks and three kills and Zena Yakimow with nine attacks and three kills. Becca Dumas had four assists and five of her own attacks, two of them kills. The coach says, great team work by all the girls.
Coming up in high school sports tonight, the Yucca Valley High School Trojan football will travel to Indio to play Shadow Hill High School.
The Joshua Springs Christian School Lightning will host Bloomington Christian at home.
Kick-off for both games is at 7 p.m.
In high school sports tomorrow, the Twentynine Palms High School Wildcat football team will travel away to Big Bear to play the Big Bear Bears. Game time is at 1:30 p.m.
Also tomorrow, the Twentynine Palms High School cross country team will participate in the Rockin’ Roubidoux Invitational meet in Jurupa Valley. The event begins at 8:30.
