HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS: SCORES AND SCHEDULES

Yucca Valley High School volleyball Coach Janet Larson said the varsity won in convincing fashion against Big Bear, three sets to one. Emily Vigrass was on top of the ball with eight kills, 10 solo blocks, and seven block assists, along with Ashley Schwartz, also having eight kills. Leading in serves was Becky Messaros with 23 service points, 18 assists, two kills and nine block assist.

The Lady Trojan JV volleyball team beat Big Bear in two sets, both 25 to 10. Riley Vallo led the way in serves, with seven aces and 13 service points, Emily Griffith had four aces and nine services points.

Coach Missy Bond reported the Twentynine Palms High School Ladycats volleyball team won their league opener against the Rattlers from Rancho Mirage. The Ladycats were led by junior Tatiyanna Mackall with 11 kills and two blocks, followed by sophomore Lindsey Scamman with two kills, five ace serves and two blocks. Junior Mara Mapuatuli had one kill and three blocks. Senior Allix Durrum had one kill, four ace serves and 10 assists and Senior Courtney Stanford added one kill and 10 assists. The Ladycats are now 1-0 in league.

In high school sports today, the Yucca Valley High School Trojan football team will host Palo Verde High School at home.

The Twentynine Palms High School Wildcat football team will host the Indian Springs High School Coyotes at home.

The Joshua Springs Christian School Lightning football team will travel away to San Jacinto to play the Noli Indian School Braves.

All games begin at 7 p.m.

In high school sports tomorrow, the Wildcat cross-country team will participate in the Grant Nunnally Invitational meet at Riverside City College. The meet starts at 8 a.m.
