The Twentynine Palms varsity boys’ tennis team traveled to Rancho Mirage to take on the number 1 Rattlers in conference play yesterday. The Wildcats lost 13-5. Coach William Shay said leading the Wildcats were Jarod Burks in singles play, and Marcus Simon and Vincent Thomas in doubles action. The Wildcats are now 9-4 overall and 6-2 in league conference play. They are currently in second place in the DeAnza League.
The Twentynine Palms High School golf team resumed league play yesterday, coming away with a big win over Rancho Mirage High School 237-282. Coach Grant Whipple said in his last home match, Brandon Steffins came out sizzling and shot a 38, followed by Justin Delarosa; 41; Hayden Shupp, 49; and Anthony Guiterrez, 49.
In high school sports tomorrow, the Twentynine Palms High School golf team will travel away to Thermal to play Desert Mirage High School. Tee time is 2:45.
Also tomorrow, the Joshua Springs Lightning baseball and softball teams will travel to play Redlands Adventist Academy. Baseball starts at 3; softball at 3:15.
