The Yucca Valley High School baseball teams hosted Sultana High School from Hesperia for their last preseason game. The varsity game got off to a fast start, but saw the game slip away with a final score Sultana 9, Trojans 7. Coach Brian Schoenborn said notables for the game were: freshman Desmond Delgado 4 for 4 with a double; junior Colden McGurvie 2 for 4, with a double, triple and three RBI; senior Isaiah Kinder 1 for 4 with a homerun; and senior Jeremy Schoenborn 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI.
The Trojan JV also lost.
Yesterday, the Twentynine Palms swim team hosted their first league meet against Shadow Hills. The boy’s team put up a tough fight but fell short against the Knights; this puts the boys’ team 0-1 in league and 2-2 overall. However, the girl’s team pulled away with a win of 108 to 62, putting them 1-0 in league and 4-0 overall. CIF consideration times for the girls were senior Hanna Beard in the 200- and 100-yard freestyle; freshman Lindsey Scamman in the 100-yard butterfly; she also lowered her 100-yard breaststroke time, along with junior Lexi Wade who lowered her 100-yard backstroke time.
In high school sports tomorrow, the Twentynine Palms High School baseball and softball teams will travel away to Desert Hot Springs to play the Golden Eagles. Both games start at 3:30.
