HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS: SCORES AND SCHEDULES

Thursday night the Twentynine Palms High School girls’ varsity basketball team traveled to Desert Hot Springs and defeated the Golden Eagles, 63-to-41, to remain undefeated in league play. Lindsey Scamman led the team in scoring with 22 points, 13 rebounds, and four assists. Nokomis Cabrera added 12 points and seven rebounds. Tatiyanna Mackall scored 11 points, had six rebounds, and five steals. Coach Michael Schneider said

Eight Yucca Valley High School Varsity boys wrestlers placed in the top four in their respective weight classes Saturday in De Anza League Finals held at Big Bear High School. With their placings, these student athletes have qualified to compete in CIF competition two weeks away. Coach Brandon Whitbread said placing fourth were Trevor Scott, Andrew Reyes, and Anthony Espinoza. Placing third were Martin Kennedy, and Gene “Christian” Oliver. And placing second were Rene Gamboa, Isaac Arismendiz, and Michael McKay. On the junior varsity side, Christian Barnes recorded a first place finish at his respective weight class. The Trojan girls wrestlers will participate in the CIF southern section, northern division qualifier this coming Saturday, for their own right to compete in CIF girls competition.

In high school sports tomorrow, the Twentynine Palms High School boys’ and girls’ soccer teams will play the Shadow Hills Knights. Girls will play at home; the boys will travel away to Indio. Both games start at 5 p.m.

Also tomorrow, the Joshua Springs Christian School boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will host Cornerstone Christian School.
