The Twentynine Palms High School Wildcat boys’ basketball team took to the court this week in DeAnza league match ups with split decisions. Tuesday night, the ’Cats lost on the road to the Rancho Mirage Rattlers 59-46. Coach Michael Schneider said the boys turned their fortune on Thursday night with a big win against Desert Mirage, 57-48. He said they played with a defensive passion that led to 17 steals. All scorers were led by Kyle hope, on his birthday, with 18 points. D’Shaun Barrett added 10 and Adam Bell had 11 points. The Wildcats will host cross-town rival Yucca Valley next Tuesday night. Junior varsity begins at 4:30 and varsity starts at 7 p.m.
The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojans basketball team cruised to a 75-24 win over Rancho Mirage at Trojan Gym last night. Coach Jess Geeson said junior Annika Dendekker scored a game high 19 points. Senior Ashley Priest and freshman Savannah Beasley each added 16 points. Senior guard Yvonne Tran also hit double figures with 12 points. With the win the girls ran their De Anza League record to 5-0 and 14-4 overall.
The Wildcat boy’s soccer teams went on the road to Thermal last night against the league champ Desert Mirage Rams. JV lost 12-0 and varsity lost 6-0. Goalkeepers Cyrus Clarke and KJ Morton each had over 15 saves.
In high school sports today, the Joshua Springs Christian School boys basketball team hosts Bloomington Christian School at home. Tip-off is at 6:30 p.m.
In high school sports tomorrow, the Yucca Valley High School boys’ wrestling team will host a 16-man invitational meet at home. The meet starts at 9 a.m. The girls’ wrestling team will travel away to participate in the girls invitational meet.
The Twentynine Palms High School boys’ basketball team will travel away to take part in the Palm Springs Showcase.
