The Twentynine Palms High School boys’ junior varsity and varsity basketball teams traveled to Vista Murrieta for the first game of the Rancho Mirage Showdown in the SnakePit basketball tournament Tuesday night. Coach Michael Usher said both teams lost to the Broncos; varsity by a score of 60-47 and JV by a score of 56-58. The Wildcats will host Central High School tonight (Wednesday, November 28); JV tips at 5, and varsity follows at 6:30.
The Twentynine Palms girls’ basketball team raised their record to 5 and 0 with their win over Temescal Canyon on Tuesday evening at the West Valley Mustang Classic tournament by the score of 49 to 36.
Coach Tim Stanford Kate Bobadilla led all scorers with 25 points. The ladies will play Valley View on Thursday in the semifinals of the tournament.
The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan varsity basketball team ran into a strong Valley View High School of Moreno Valley squad last night and ended up on the wrong end of a 48-19 score in a second round game at the West Valley Mustang Classic tournament in Hemet.
Coach Jess Geeson said senior Angie Reutgen and sophomore Sara Mills each netted six points to lead the Yucca girls. Sophomore Loryn Brimhall added five points in the loss. The Lady Trojans next face Temescal Canyon in a third-round tournament game Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
