HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS: SCORES AND SCHEDULES

The girls’ varsity tennis team at Yucca Valley High School beat Cathedral City, 16-2. Coach Cindy Miller said the team is now 4-1 in league.

In singles, Katie Brattain went 6-0, 6-0, 6-0; Elizabeth Anderson won 6-3, 6-0, 6-0; and Eden Ricketts 6-3, 6-4.

In doubles, Mckenzi Monical and Rylie Rohr won in three sets, 7-5, 6-2, 6-2; Jade Arnhold and Orion Ricketts also won, 6-2, 6-1, 6-0; and Alex Costa and Gisele Julian won one set, 6-2; as did Catherine Jones and Rachelle Hendriguez, 7-5. Jade Arnhold and Orion Ricketts are undefeated in doubles so far this year. Shout out to Mckenzi and Rylie for making a great comeback from 2-5 in the first match to win 7-5.  

The Twentynine Palms High School varsity girls’ tennis team traveled to Desert Mirage to face the Rams Tuesday. The Ladycats came away with the win 16 to 2. Coach Bill Shay said the Ladycats are 4-and-0 in league and 6-and-1 overall.  

In high school sports today, the Yucca Valley High School girls’ volleyball team will travel away to Thermal to play Coachella Valley High School.

The Twentynine Palms High School volleyball team will travel away to play Banning High School. Both matches start at 4:30 p.m.

And the Yucca Valley High School cross-country team will participate in the Desert Valley League meet in Twentynine Palms, starting at 3:15 p.m.
