Twentynine Palms High School golf kicked off the 2017 season this week with a road loss and a home win. Tuesday the Wildcats traveled to Apple Valley and played a tough preseason match against Apple Valley High School, losing 204 to 265. Thursday, the golf team held its home opener at Road Runner Dunes golf course hosting Desert Christian academy. The Wildcats came out on top at home and defeated the Conquerors with a score of 295 to 265. Coach Gary Bell said the low score of the match was shot by Twentynine Palms player Andrew Dyer with a 50, followed by Wildcats’ Gabriel Villescas with 52, and Jace Hope with 53. Hope made a birdie on the ninth hole in almost complete darkness.
In the final day tomorrow of the Route 66 Baseball Classic tournament, the Joshua Springs Lightning baseball team will play Palo Verde Valley from Blythe, California.
