HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS: SCORES AND SCHEDULES

The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan basketball team used a strong first half to claim a 51-42 victory over the Riverside Poly Bears last night in a third round game in the Big Daddy Classic tournament at Notre Dame High School in Riverside. Coach Jess Geeson said sophomore Angie Reutgen led all scorers with 11 points. Junior Kiley Pitts netted eight points and junior Savannah Beasley added seven points. Juniors Hannah Hovious, Kennedy Hickman and Zena Yakimow each contributed six points. 
Wednesday, the Twentynine Palms High School girls’ varsity basketball team won their second game in a row at the Rancho Verde tournament over Vista Del Lago, 63 to 15, improving their record to 5 and 1. Coach Tim Stanford said Tatiyanna Mackall had 18 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 steals; Destiny Dedmon had 13 points and 10 rebounds; Makya Bullion had 10 points and seven steals; and Ari Felder tallied seven points. Jhordan Stanley, making her freshman debut on the varsity, added six points and eight rebounds.
 
Coming up in high school sports today, the Yucca Valley High School girls’ basketball team will participate in the fourth day of the Notre Dame High School Big Daddy Classic tournament, starting at 4:30 p.m.
 
The Twentynine Palms High School girls’ basketball team will play in the second day of the Rancho Verde Tournament in Moreno Valley, starting at 4:30 p.m.
 
And the Joshua Springs Christian School boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will play Nuview Bridge at home. The girls’ game starts at 5 p.m., the boys start at 6:30 p.m.
 
In high school sports, tomorrow, the Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms High School girls’ basketball teams will participate in the final day of their tournaments.
