The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan volleyball team won their match last night in four sets. Coach Darrell Sterling said the team is starting to communicate and work well together.
They won in 25-23, 19-25, 25-19 and 25-18. Emily Vigrass led the kills with 11 attempts, one error, and 10 kills and three solo blocks. Jamila Day had 15 attempts and nine kills. Julia Conrad had eight kills.
Setter Becky Messaros had 35 assists, 20 serves, seven aces, and a total of 15 points off serves. Zena Yakima had 15 serves, three aces, and six points total from serving.
The Twentynine Palms High School Ladycat volleyball team was able to beat Desert Christian in three sets. Coach Missy Bond said the Ladycats are now 3-1 overall.
The Ladycats were led by senior Tatiyanna Mackall who had nine kills, five blocks, and one ace serve. Lindsey Scamman had eight kills and two blocks. Junior Vaitupu Melei had two back court kills, and two assists for the night.
The Yucca Valley High School girls’ varsity tennis team beat Indio 13-5. Coach Cindy Miller said all the girls played really well. With each match, the girls are improving.
In singles, Carrie Scofield won in three sets, 6-3, 6-1, 6-0. Katie Brattain also won 6-1, 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles, Dawn Rich and April Bratcher were 6-0, 6-0, 6-0; Kloee Scacclonce and Savannah Beasley won two sets, 6-4 6-3; Summer Nelson and Mckenzi Monical 6-4; Stats were not given for Summer Nelson and Alisha Tavares. The team is now 1-1.
In high school sports today, the Twentynine Palms High School volleyball team will travel away to San Jacinto High School. The match starts at 4:30 p.m. And the Joshua Springs Christian volleyball team will host Cornerstone Christian school, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
