The Yucca Valley High School girls varsity tennis team beat Indio 11- 7 Monday. Coach Cindy Miller said standouts in singles were: Carrie Scofield 3-0, Katie Brattain 3-0, and April Bratcher with 1. In doubles: Aislinn Gueltzow and Miranda Green went 7-6.
The Twentynine Palms High School Ladycats volleyball team beat the Coachella Valley High School Arabs in three sets. Coach Melisa Mintz said the Ladycats were lead by senior Latasia Benevente who had 15 kills and two ace serves. Sophomore Lindsey Scammon had three kills, five blocks and one ace serve. Junior Mara Mapuatuli had three kills and three blocks. Senior Courtney Stanford had three kills, one block and 18 assists for the night.
Volleyball dominates high school sports tomorrow. The Twentynine Palms High School volleyball team will host the Rancho Mirage High School Rattlers at home. The match begins at 4:30.
The Yucca Valley High School Trojan volleyball and tennis teams will host the Big Bear Bears at home. First serve for tennis is at 3:15; volleyball is at 4:30.
The Joshua Springs Lightning volleyball team will travel away to Palm Springs to play Desert Chapel High School Eagles. The match begins at 5:30.
