Friday, the Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojans softball team visited Coachella Valley High School, taking the win in extra innings with a score of 4-3.
The Lady Trojans took an early lead with Nicolette Majors hitting a home run, bringing in junior Kloee Scaccianoce. After another score on a steal by Scacciannoce later in the game, Coachella scored three runs, tying it up. The tie was broken by Scaccianoce stealing home and the girls blocking Coachella from scoring in the eighth inning.
Sophomore Haley Smith pitched the winning game, striking out thirteen and walking only one.
The Lady Trojans continue undefeated in the league with the next upcoming game facing Twentynine Palms at home on Wednesday at 3:15.
Coming up in high school sports today, the Yucca Valley High School boys’ tennis team will travel away to Thermal to play Coachella Valley High School. First serve is at 3:15 p.m.
