The Twentynine Palms High School girls’ basketball team raised its league record to 3-and-0 by getting a tough win over Shadow Hills High School Wednesday at home with the score of 47-to-38. Lindsey Scamman lead all scorers with a huge game of 18 points, 13 rebounds, seven blocked shots, and five steals. Tatiyanna Mackall had 12 points, 12 rebounds, five steals, and two assists. Coach Tim Stanford said the entire Wildcat team played outstanding defense in the contest.
The Twentynine Palms High School Lady Wildcats hosted Shadow Hills High School Wednesday evening, resulting in an 8-0 loss for junior varsity and a 11-1 loss for the varsity team. Senior forward Alexa Flores scored in the second half for varsity, with an assist from junior forward Maggie O’Brien. Senior goalkeeper Maranda Palmer contributed 20 saves for the ’Cats, who fought hard against the highly ranked Knights.
Freshman goalkeeper Alexis Soster had 31 saves for junior varsity. Coach Richard Sanchez said the entire JV squad worked tirelessly during the loss.
In high school sports today, the Twentynine Palms High School varsity boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will play Rancho Mirage High School. The boys will travel away and girls will play at home. Both games begin at 6 p.m.
Also, the Yucca Valley High School varsity boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will play Desert Hot Springs High School with girls at home and boys away. Tip-off for both games is 6 p.m.
In high school sports tomorrow, the Yucca Valley High School wrestling teams will host the “Trojan War Tournament,” with meets beginning at 10 a.m. Also tomorrow, the Twentynine Palms High School varsity boys’ basketball will travel down to Palm Springs to compete in the Palm Springs Showcase.
