The Twentynine Palms High School boys’ basketball team traveled to Beaumont to play the Apple Valley Sun Devils in the Beaumont Tip Off Classic. The ’Cats were victorious with an 81-55 score. Head Coach T.J. Stanford said the ’Cats started slow but recovered in the third quarter with tough defense.
Leading the ’Cats was D’Shaun Barrett with 27 points, Adam Bell with 20, Tarion Napoleon and Abraham Bell both had eight.
The Yucca Valley Lady Trojan basketball team notched their first win of the season last night toppling the Adelanto Saints 66-42 in a second-round game at the West Valley tournament in Hemet. Coach Jess Geeson said, leading only 26-19 at halftime, the Yucca girls outscored the Saints 40 to 23 in the second half to even their record at 1-1 on the season.
Freshman Sara Mills pumped in a game-high 22 points. Junior Angie Reutgen added 19 points and senior Kiley Pitts chipped in nine points. The team resumes the tournament Thursday at 4:30 p.m. against Inland Empire Power Valley View.
Yucca Valley High School boys’ varsity soccer hosted Excelsior Prep from Victorville and the final score was a 14-0 shut-out for the Yucca Valley High School boys. The Yucca Valley boys’ varsity head coach Jorge Rodriguez said player of the match was junior forward Noah Baxter, who scored two goals.
