The High School football season kicks off today with all three of our local teams in action. Yucca Valley High school will travel away to face Riverside Prep in Oro Grande. JV starts at 4:00, varsity at 7:00. Twentynine Palms faces Granite Hills at home at Tom Nicoll stadium. Fans are being urged to wear green in support of the Wildcats. JV starts at 4 p.m. and varsity at 7 p.m. The Joshua Springs Christian Lightning Varsity football team has an away non-conference game at Bagdad, Arizona, starting at 5:00 p.m.
The Twentynine Palms High School Ladycats’ volleyball team traveled to West Shores yesterday and lost in three sets. Coach Missy Bond said the ’Cats were led by seniors Lindsey Scammon, with seven kills and two blocks; and Cheryl Jensen, with two kills and two ace serves. Junior Lea Speer had two kills. Senior Hope Culver played tough defense for the cats. Junior Gabby Mackall had seven assists and one ace serve. The Ladycats will travel to Desert Christian Bermuda Dunes on Monday.
