The Twentynine Palms Wildcat varsity golf team kicked off the preseason yesterday at Roadrunner Dunes Golf Course hosting Palm Valley High School. Coach Grant Whipple said the ’Cats fought hard and were able to scratch out a win 267-272. Standouts were Brandon Steffins, 40, Justin Delarosa, 48, and Anthony Gutierrez, 59. The golf team will host a tough Apple Valley High School team today at home. The match will start at 2:45.
Coming up in high school sports tomorrow, the Yucca Valley High School Trojan softball team will travel away to play in the Needles tournament.
Also tomorrow, the Twentynine Palms High School baseball team will travel to Hemet to play in the Cornerstone tournament. And the Lady Cat softball team will host Palm Springs High School at home, starting at 10 am.
