The Yucca Valley High School girls’ varsity tennis team lost a heartbreaker 8-10 to Indio Thursday. Coach Cindy Miller said the team is in second place in league. The record is 7-3.
In singles, Katie Brattain again swept her sets, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0. In doubles action, Mckenzi Monical and Rylie Rohr won 4-6, 6-3, 6-4; Jade Arnhold and Orion Ricketts were 6-1, 6-1; and Alex Costa and Gisele Julian lost, 3-6, 6-4, 4-6.
The Twentynine Palms High School varsity girls’ tennis team traveled to Desert Hot Springs to face the Golden Eagles on Thursday. The Ladycats came away with the win, 16 to 2. Coach Bill Shay said the Ladycats are now 7-and-2 in league and 10-and-3 overall.
The Lady Trojans volleyball team will hold its annual car wash fundraiser at Napa Auto Parts in Yucca Valley Saturday, October 6, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come out and support your local high school students.
Both the Yucca Valley Trojan and Twentynine Palms Wildcat football teams are coming off wins last week; Yucca Valley against Indio, and Twentynine Palms against Desert Hot Springs. This week, the home town teams will switch opponents in away games. The Trojans will travel away to play Desert Hot Springs, and the Wildcats will travel away to Indio.
Kick-off for both games is at 7 p.m.
