The Yucca Valley Lady Trojan basketball team notched a 50-27 De Anza League victory over Big Bear last night in Trojan Gym. Coach Jess Geeson said Senior Annika Dendekker and sophomore Kiley Pitts led the scoring with 12 points each while sophomore Savannah Beasley added 10 points to the win. The Yucca Valley girls upped their league record to 7-2 and their overall record to 16-7.
 
The Twentynine palms High School girls’ varsity basketball team won their league game at Shadow Hills High School Thursday night, 70 to 30, to raise their league record to 9 and 0. Coach Tim Stanford said scoring points on the night were: Lindsey Scamman with 23; Tatiyanna Mackall with 11; Courtney Stanford with nine; Destiney Dedmon with eight; Makya Bullion with seven; Jamie Brann with six; Hope Culver with four; and Adriann Miller with two.
 
Yucca Valley High School boys’ soccer lost to Big Bear High School by a score of 2 to 1. Coach Jorge Rodriguez said senior Andrew Bellucci scored from an assist by junior Oscar Hernandez. 
  
The Twentynine Palms soccer teams hosted the Knights of Shadow Hills Wednesday night. Coach Nathan Niles said the varsity squad fought hard but came up short 9-0 against a very good squad. Keeper KJ Morton recorded 14 saves to keep the scoring down. The JV squad played extremely well and even, but lost in heartbreaking fashion 1-0 in the last quarter of the game. Goalkeeper Lyle Williams had 10 saves in his first game.
  
The Lady Wildcats soccer squad traveled to Shadow Hills High School Wednesday evening, resulting in a 10-0 loss for the varsity team and 9-0 loss for junior varsity and. Coach Richard Sanchez said senior goalkeeper Maranda Palmer contributed 26 more saves to bring her season total to 271, a DeAnza League record. Sophomore goalkeeper Lydia Medina had 18 saves for junior varsity.  
 
In high school sports today, the Yucca Valley High School boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will compete against Desert Hot Springs High School. The boys will play at home; the girls will travel away. Both games start at 6 p.m.
 
Also today, the Twentynine Palms High School boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will play Rancho Mirage High School. The boys will play at home; the girls will travel away to Rancho Mirage. Both games start at 6 p.m.
 
In high school sports tomorrow, the Twentynine Palms High School girls’ basketball team will participate in the Junipero Serra Showcase tournament.
 
The Yucca Valley High School girls’ wrestling team will participate in the CIF qualifying meet tomorrow.
