Yucca Valley High School boys’ soccer traveled down to Coachella High School Friday night and lost to a very good and experienced team, 6-0. Coach Jorge Rodriguez said, “We learned a lot from this experience and we must improve as a unit.” Rodriguez added, “We now set our sights on the Annual Ontario Christian tournament on December 28, 29 and 30.”
 
On December 18 and 19, the Twentynine Palms High School boys’ soccer team traveled to West Shores High School in Salton City to take on Calvary Chapel Downey, Desert Christian Academy and Xavier Prep. They emerged with one win and two losses. Coach Nathan Niles said the back line played very well together. Freshman goalkeeper Kyle Lawrence also helped the team win in a shootout with two key saves. Sophomores Nick Stowers and Justin Silvas scored with five goals and one goal. Junior Ryan Stowers led in assists with three, followed by Arthur Belmont with two and Tim Niles with one. The Varsity Wildcats are traveling to Loma Linda for the Gary Pettis Memorial Cup on December 28 and 29.
 
The Yucca Valley High School girls’ soccer team traveled to take on CIF ranked Coachella Valley on Friday. Girls’ Varsity Coach Scott Phillips said the Lady Trojans played very well and entered the half tied, but weren’t able to stay with the Lady Arabs, and fell by a score of 4-2. Junior Alexia Missett continued her great play by scoring both of the goals on assists from sophomore Jackie Bolha. Next up for the Lady Trojans will be the Ontario Christian Tournament December 28-30.
