The Yucca Valley High School Trojan baseball team come up short against Desert Hot Springs Friday. Coach Brian Schoenborn said the game was tied 1-1 in the first inning on a hit by freshman Desmond Delgado and an RBI single by senior Isaiah Kinder. The Desert Hot Springs Eagles managed to add four more runs, until the sixth inning when the Trojans came roaring back with four runs of their own to tie it up. The rally was led by hits from Delgado, senior Jeremy Schoenborn, Kinder, freshman Christian Elias, junior Jon Weekley, and sophomore Eric Hale. The comeback fell short and the Eagles scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Final score was 6-5. The Yucca Valley Junior varsity also lost 6-5.

The Twentynine Palms High School boys’ varsity tennis team hosted Desert Hot Springs Friday. The Wildcats came away with the victory 14 to 4. Coach William Shay said the Wildcats were led by Marcus Simon and Vincent Thomas, sweeping all three sets. Also in doubles action, Raul Hernandez and Jose Valdez won a gripping victory over the Desert Hot Springs number 3 doubles team, winning 14 to 12 in a tie-breaker.

In high school sports tomorrow, the Twentynine Palms High School Wildcat track, tennis, and swim teams will travel away to Thermal to play the Desert Mirage High School Rams. The track meet starts at 3; tennis and swim are at 3:15.

The Wildcat baseball and softball teams will host the Desert Hot Springs Golden Eagles tomorrow at home. First pitch for both games is at 3:30.

The Yucca Valley High School Trojan swim, tennis, and track teams will host Shadow Hills High School at home tomorrow. All games start at 3:15.
