The Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojan volleyball team played their final match of the season Wednesday night in Twentynine Palms. The varsity came up short in four sets. Coach Matt Jennings said leading the team were seniors Ashley Priest with 19 kills, eight blocks; Haley Rayburn with 10 kills and two blocks; Karson Scaccianoce who was 22 for 25 serving and six digs. Juniors Ashley Schwartz had nine kills; Jade Adair had 23 assists; and Chloe Smith had seven digs. Sophomore Becky Messaros was 17 for 17 serving with 15 assists.

The junior varsity team would take their seventh league win defeating the Wildcats 2-1. Leading the JV team were Alaina Trofler who was 12 for 12 serving with three aces; Emily Vigrass was 13 for 13 serving with three aces, seven kills and four blocks; Nichole Sugita had four kills; and Becca Dumas had 16 assists.

The victorious Twentynine Palms High School Ladycats volleyball team was led by senior Hanna Beard, who had eight kills and four assists. She was followed by junior Courtney Stanford, who had six kills and two ace serves; and sophomore Tatyanna Makall, who had five kills, four blocks, and two ace serves. Freshman Lindsey Scamman had four kills and three blocks; and Allix Durrum also had four kills.

The Yucca Valley High School girls’ varsity tennis team played against Foothill Tech from Ventura. The Trojans fought to the last point but lost 5-13. In doubles, Dawn Rich and Moriah Goddard were two out of three, and Aimee Frank and Cionne Lonergan were 3-0. Coach Cindy Miller said, “It was a great season for the team.” The league record was 12-0 and overall, including playoffs, was 14-2. The Trojans were ranked sixth in Division 5.

Tuesday, the Twentynine Palms High School Ladycat tennis team won their first round wildcard match at home against San Gorgonio High School from San Bernardino, by a score of 12-6. Coach Joe Ingram said singles dominated the match, winning eight out of nine sets, including Jasmine Smith and Marissa Thomas, who both went three for three. In doubles, Cassidy Bertolone and Cortni Rahn also swept all three sets.
