The Yucca Valley High School girls’ varsity tennis team beat Desert Mirage High School, 16-2. Coach Cindy Miller said up next will be Twentynine Palms tomorrow at Twentynine Palms. The start time for the match will be 2:45. This is the last game of the season.
In singles action, Katie Brattain swept her sets, 6-1, 6-0, 6-0; Elizabeth Anderson also won all three sets, 6-1, 6-4, 6-0; as did Eden Ricketts 6-4, 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles, Mckenzi Monical and Rylie Rohr 6-3, 2-6, 6-1; Jade Arnhold and Orion Ricketts 6-4, 6-3, 6-1; Alex Costa and Gisele Julian 6-0; Gisele Julian and Rachelle Hendriguez 6-3; Gisele Julian and Skye Hanson 4-6. The team in now 10-3 and in 2nd place in the Desert Valley League.
Next week, the girls will be at Indian Wells Tennis Garden for individual league finals on Monday October 22. Start time for the matches will be noon. They will be playing the first three rounds of the tournament. On October 23, the semi-finals and finals will be played. Start time will be noon.
The Twentynine Palms High School varsity girls tennis team traveled to Cathedral City to face the Lions Tuesday. The Ladycats lost 7 to 11. Coach Bill Shay said the Ladycats are 8-and-5 in league and 11-and-6 overall.
