The Yucca Valley High School girls’ varsity tennis team beat Cathedral City 16-2 yesterday. Coach Cindy Miller said the team is now 9-3 in league and currently in second place.
In singles, Katie Brattian 6-0, 6-0, 6-0; Elizabeth Anderson 6-3. 6-0, 6-0; Eden Rickett 6-4, 6-1, 6-1. That was a sweep in singles 6-0. Great job girls.
In doubles, Mckenzi Monical and Rylie Rohr 6-3, 6-1; Jade Arnhold and Orion Rickett 4-6, 6-1, 6-4; Alex Costa and Gisele Julian 1-6, 6-4, 6-1; Rachelle Hendriguez and Skye Hanson 6-0. The doubles played well. Mckenzi and Rylie took down a very good doubles team.
The Twentynine Palms High School varsity girls’ tennis team hosted the Rams of Desert Mirage on Thursday. The Ladycats won 15 to 3. Coach Bill Shay said the Ladycats are 8-and-3 in league and 11-and-4 overall.
Coming up in high school sports today, the Yucca Valley High School Trojan football team will travel away to play the Cathedral City Lions. Also tonight, the Twentynine Palms High School Wildcats will travel away to Thermal to play the Desert Mirage High School Rams. Kick-off for both games is at 7 p.m.
