In high school sports, the Yucca Valley High School Lady Trojans volleyball team hosted the Cathedral City Lions in their 12th league match. Varsity won against the Lions in three sets (25-23, 25-18, 25-12). Coach Darrell Sterling said they honored and acknowledged their seniors: Julia Conrad, Riley Vallo, Alexis Hines, Emily Griffith, Eva Pererra, and Kehaulani Stoneburner. Sterling said, “It has been a great pleasure to be able to coach and mentor these girls for the last four years.”
The junior varsity won their second match in a row (25-22, 25-10). Sterling invites residents to come out and support the volleyball teams at their annual car wash fundraiser at Napa Auto Parts in Yucca Valley Saturday October 6th from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Twentynine Palms High School Ladycat volleyball team lost to Desert Mirage High School in four sets (15-25, 23-25, 25-22, 15-25). The Ladycats were led by senior Alania Thomas with eight kills and two ace serves. Junior Amanda Mohn and freshman Meleane Taufu both had five kills and three assists combined. Juniors Jhordon Stanley and Riley King had four kills each and King had two blocks. Senior Gabby Mackall had three kills, three ace serves, 23 assists and one block. The Ladycats play Cathedral City away on Monday.
In high school sports today, the Yucca Valley High School girls’ tennis team travels away to play Indio High School.
And the Twentynine Palms High School girls’ tennis team travels away to play Desert Hot Springs.
Both matches start at 3:15 p.m.
