In high school sports, the Yucca Valley High School girls’ varsity tennis team got back on the winning track with a win against Banning 16-2. Coach Cindy Miller said the team is now 7-6 in league and currently in second place.
In singles, Katie Brattain swept her sets, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0; Elizabeth Anderson won 6-2, 6-0, 6-0; Eden Ricketts won two sets, 6-2, 6-0. Catherine Jones 2-6.
In doubles action, Mckenzi Monical and Rylie Rohr won 6-1, 6-1, 6-1; Jade Arnhold and Orien Ricketts 6-0, 6-0, 6-1; Alex Costa and Gisele Julian won
one set, 6-0; Alex Henriquez and Rachelle Henriquez 6-0; Rachelle Henriquez and Skye Hanson 0-6.
The Twentynine Palms High School varsity girls’ tennis team hosted the Arabs of Coachella Valley on Tuesday. Coach Bill Shay said the Ladycats lost a tough one, 8-to-10. The Ladycats are 6-and-2 in league and 9-and-3 overall.
In high school sports today, the Yucca Valley High School volleyball team will host Desert Hot Springs at home.
The Twentynine Palms High School volleyball team will host Desert Mirage High School at home.
